Fourteen years back, I took a leap into Network Marketing when social media in Tanzania was in its infancy—just around 520,000 internet users. Back then, smartphones were just finding their way into the country.
I gave it a good shot for about a year and a half, leading a team of fewer than 10 people. But soon, I veered into other ventures.

Come 2016, the social media landscape had grown significantly, boasting 7,590,794 internet users. Armed with digital marketing and web design knowledge, I felt more equipped for success in this arena.
Despite recruiting a small online team, I couldn’t ignore the skepticism around social media’s business potential from fellow entrepreneurs. My expectations clashed with reality, leading me to dabble in Affiliate Marketing. Eventually, in 2019, we birthed a start-up company aiming to revolutionize the food industry by empowering local chefs through technology.
For three consecutive years, we’ve been running this business using our funds with a team of 7 people. You can imagine… paying office rent, salaries, and other operational costs. By 2023, we’ve registered and served over 300 chefs, with a customer base of more than 10,000. However, the business expenses were 98% higher than the income.
The Bad News!
The Global Affiliate Marketing Industry's Death 😠
During this same period, the global Affiliate Marketing industry wasn’t performing as well as before. So, my income wasn’t enough to sustain the business. Additionally, my co-founder, who works for an international organization, couldn’t solely finance the business either.
For that reason, we decided to temporarily close the business to reflect on better ways to come back. It wasn’t an easy decision, but we had no choice.
Through Affiliate Marketing, I gained immense experience, especially in online sales. I also learned a lot about creating digital systems and sales funnels.
I realized I had a unique contribution to make in the network marketing industry, especially considering the explosive growth of internet users in my country, reaching 34,469,022 as of September 2023, and a staggering 5.3 billion worldwide. It was a profound realization.
The question arose: Can’t I use my current skills to train Network Marketing entrepreneurs and earn enough to keep the business running? The answer is yes, it’s possible.
